Project canceled and full refund

Hi everyone,
First, we’d like to thank each and every one of you who have backed Bluejay, who have believed in the project and supported us on this journey. Sadly, we regret to announce we will be closing down the project effective today but at the same time refunding all our backers.
The reception of Bluejay has been amazing, from you guys and gals, the media, our friends and family and people backing us after the campaign has ended. Unfortunately, we are today in a situation where we have to consider and realize the harsh truth that the Bluejay technology has been overtaken swiftly and it’s very unlikely it will have a bright future.
There are many factors involved the main one being the car industry is moving at a much faster pace than we predicted when we started the project almost two years ago.
Recent developments have included Uber just announcing 100 autonomous cars driving around Pittsburgh this month, Google's self-driving cars have achieved more than one million miles already, car manufacturers are investing into infotainment and autonomous systems at an exponential rate and most importantly Google's Android Auto system will be a standalone app soon. We also understand Apple may announce a similar offer with CarPlay in the near future.
In the last year the car industry has entered a period of extreme and rapid change. We also understand how hard it is to build successful hardware, how much money and time is needed and especially how difficult it is to stay in the game when you are competing with giants like Google. Taking all this into consideration, we feel like we are swimming against the tide.
This decision has been incredibly difficult. We put our blood, sweat and tears into this project, we did everything we could, we researched the market thoroughly and obtained international validation and we were on a good track, but we do believe this is the best course of action.
Regardless of all the costs we encountered on our journey - paying software and hardware developers, prototyping, design, Kickstarter and payment processing fees, video and other expenses, we are issuing a FULL REFUND TO EVERY BACKER. Refunds can take up to 10 working days to come through. If there is any issue with the refund or you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected].
Before pressing the button to bring this project to a close, we would like to say a huge thank you to the press and media, to our influencers, social media promoters, friends, family and, most of all, to all the backers who have helped us come this far. None of this would have been possible without your help and we are incredibly grateful for your time and effort.
